The Woman We'd MOST Love to Be

If you had told me, 15 months ago when this on-line pageant began, that Olivia Newton-John would be "crowned" as the woman this community of transvestites, cross-dressers and sissies wanted to be, I'd have called you crazy. I'd have bet it would be someone like Angelina Jolie or perhaps a time-honored icon like Grace Kelly.

But, looking back at it, I see the reasons: From her debut as the virginal ingenue of country-pop, through the sex-bomb in leather and spandex at the finale of Grease, right up through her current image of cancer-survivor earth mother, ONJ has remained feminine and beautiful.

Isn't that what we all long to be?

After the weekend, I'll fill you in on the new poll that will take the place of this one.

Final Posings for Today

Last ones for today. Have I said how much I love this dress?

Next week, I may try a video, provided I can find a mask to wear that I like. Most likely outfit is those lovely orange palazzo pants.

More Posing Still

I'm discovering that attempting to emulate standing poses from fashion photography is much more difficult than seated ones. I suspect that the standing ones are often done while the model is in motion, with the photographer clicking shots rapid-fire, and then choosing only the best ones. Thus, to freeze in these positions for a tripod-mounted camera in the timer setting is very hard.

One other point about this set: I realized that I had left my camera in the "freeze motion" setting for the last set...and that affects the lighting. I think these look better, don't you?

More on Flickr and later....

PS: I still love this dress!

More Posing

Here are a few from today's dressing and posing. I love this dress...I absolutely love it!

There are a few more on Flickr, and there will be more later today.

Car Park Dare

One of my contacts on Flickr posted this two-part video: The dare--walk from the car to the store and back, picking up something on the way:

I'd never have the courage...even if I looked that good. Would you?

Trying Out New Poses

My dressing and photo session today was primarily for the chance to test some new poses, ideas I got by browsing through the collection of fashion and other images I keep for illustrations. These are all seated or reclining poses...something I haven't done a lot of in the past.

I didn't do the usual digital editing of my face here, just blurred it out. As I said, the emphasis was on pose, not expression...and I had an odd occurrence, as well. More on that in a moment--but first, what I think were the most successful poses:

Now for the odd thing--despite not having dressed in nearly a month, I really wasn't into it this morning. Can't quite say why, but something just wasn't clicking. Maybe it was the wig...I wanted to give the blonde curls one last chance, but I've really grown to dislike it. Maybe it was the interruption of a phone call that broke the mood.

Anyway, I'll be trying this again next week in a different outfit and one of the other wigs. In the meantime, check out these pics and the ones of Flickr and tell me which poses you like best.

What I'll Be Wearing

I went to the storage locker and picked out some outfits for the next few weeks of dressing. I wanted to go spring-like. Here they are:

They won't all be accessorized in the same way, of course (for example, I didn't bring the pink pumps home, so I probably won't wear the pink scarf at all). Speaking of shoes, I picked out these:

To get myself in the mood, I'm wearing my frilly socks and the red baby-dolls right now.

Coming soon to this space...

...more photos.

Home-from-college son has a full-time job for the summer, so I figure I'll have one day a week in which to indulge myself with dressing and photography. That means new pics beginning next week.

I've gone through my collection of fashion shots looking for suitable poses to emulate. We'll see how that goes.

In the Comics: Men in Heels

I just discovered that Brooke McEldowney's comic strip, 9 Chickweed Lane, ran a week-long sequence about men in high heels last week. Here it is:

And it looks like it may be continuing--in one way or another--this week:

[updated 5/13 with Wednesday's strip]

I'll keep you posted.

Women We'd Love to Be--Semi-Finals, Week 3

I'm ending this week's poll a day early, because I have personal business to attend to tomorrow and won't get the chance to post this. Olivia was running away with it, anyway!

Women We'd Love to Be--Semi-Finals, Week 2

Ginger takes the day again.

Playing With Images

I posted these to Flickr several days ago and just realized they'd never gone up here.

These two are an attempt to create a look like the old-time Hollywood glamour photography. Not sure if I pulled it off.

And this one is another like the ones I did a few weeks ago...this one still looks a little "pasted in" to my eye. What do you all think?

Finally, playing around with the line-art facility of my programs, I come up with this comic-booky image.
