Happy Thanksgiving and more

First, a happy turkey day to all my American readers...and to those of you in other places, I wish you all have much to be thankful for anyway.

Second, I have interesting news. I've recently found out, thanks to this blog, that I can order shoes from the Payless website, and have them delivered--free of charge--to the local Payless brick-and-mortar store. This means no more seeing cute shoes on line that I can't find in the stores!

Unfortunately, with Christmas on the way, I probably won't be doing any shopping for Dani until January...but now I have a new way to do it!

Cartoon Dani--Self-Portrait

I really like this one. The source material is one of the last pics I took of myself during my original dressing period in the 1970s.

Cartoon Dani 2

This time, after creating the cartoon version, I dropped it into a background. The finished product is very impressive, if I do say so myself. The original source--for comparison purposes--is here.

Cartoon Dani

Utilizing the same techniques I use to create my comic strip-like cartoons, I transformed one of my photos into this drawing. If you'd like to compare it to the original source, you'll find it in the post titled Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 7

I may do more of these during my holiday hiatus from dressing.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 11

I'm pretty sure I've done this exact same combination before, but it looks so good, I couldn't resist it. Purple top from Kmart, checked skirt (also Kmart), white hose, black belt, purple pumps from Payless, silver jewelry.

More pics on Flickr.

This will be my last dressing and photo session for at least a week, as next week will be tied up with the holiday. I suspect my next pictorial posting will be my second anniversary..."Dani's second birthday," as it were...with a slideshow of my best looks from the past 12 months.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 10

Breaking out the boots for the first time this season...with the denim skirt and the new white blouse.

Other accessories are pink bow, pink scarf, black belt, gold jewelry, and white hose.

More pics on Flickr, another outfit later.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 9

Here's a slightly different version of my little black dress. Last time, I used a plain black top with my black skirt...this time, I used the one with the crystal decoration. I keep looking for a real LBD, but all the ones I see are obviously intended for petite little things--which I decidedly am not.

Accessories are silver jewelry, wide black belt, black hose and black patent pumps.

More pics on Flickr; next dressing and photo session probably tomorrow.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 8

I've been looking for a classy and classic plaid wool skirt for over a year now...and finally found it at Target yesterday! They actually had it in three colors--brown, black/red, and this purple/gray one. I went with this one because I don't have a pair of brown shoes that would work and I have 'way too much black and red in my wardrobe! I'm wearing it with my fave cowl neck sweater.

Accessories are white hair bow, gold jewelry, black hose, and gray fabric pumps.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 7

Here's an outfit I'd never considered before: The top is the blue/silver thing I bought as a "party" item last December. The skirt is from the otherwise "frumpy" Jaclyn Smith combo from spring of '08. I've come to hate the top, but the skirt hangs and flows beautifully.

More va-va-voom on the figure here. I don't know what I'm doing differently, but I have to keep at it!

Accessories: white hair bow, silver jewelry, wide black belt, blue patent pumps (with the killer spike heels).

More pics on Flickr. Further dressing next week.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 6

Another of my fave dresses, if only because it's so incredibly comfortable to wear. It's also classic yet modern, giving a lovely "young housewife" look. It's a knit jersey from Kmart.

Is it just me or does my figure look particularly spectacular in these two shots?

Accessories are narrow scarf, gold jewelry, black belt and plaid mary-jane pumps.

More pics on Flickr and another outfit later today.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 5

Again, taking two pieces I never thought to combine before. The red top is from that very first outfit I bought in the winter of '07. The skirt is one of the three I bought at Kmart this spring.

I was really happy with this photo shoot; I had a tough time picking the best four shots to post here.

Accessories: Blue hair bow, multi-color scarf, taupe hose, silver jewelry, black patent pumps. I'm really getting to love that scarf--it has so many colors, it goes with practically anything!

More pics on Flickr; more dressing on Friday.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 4

Nothing new here, but this outfit is always attractive. It's a combo of sweater top and crepe skirt from Kmart's Jaclyn Smith line, bought earlier this year. All I was trying to do here was look comfortable and feminine.

Accessories are red rosette hairband, pearl and gold jewelry, taupe hose and bone-colored faux snakeskin pumps.

More pics on Flickr and I'll try to get the rest of Tuesday's pics up later tonight.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 3

This is the third outfit from Monday; not the one I'd originally intended to wear. I'd wanted to try again with the brown dress from Burlington that I bought over the summer--seen here. But when I tried it on, it seemed even tighter than the first time and all the wrong bulges were showing.

So I've decided to scrap that one. I think tomorrow I'll be making a Goodwill visit, with that dress and the two frumpy suits I bought 'way back at the beginning of my new dressing ventures.

Anyway, I went with one of my oldest blouses, the pink zebra-print skirt also bought this summer, and my pink pumps. Isn't it amazing how three items bought separately can match so well?

Other accessories are the pink hair bow, silver jewelry, and black hose.

More pics on Flickr and today's outfits later today.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing, 2

This is an all-new outfit. The pink plaid skirt is from Kmart (Jaclyn Smith again) and the gray blouse from Wal-Mart (the Lee Rider line).

The skirt is actually longer than I thought when I bought it, but I'm pleased with the look. Accessories are pink hair bow, silver jewelry, taupe hose, and pink pumps.

There's a third outfit from today, but I don't think I'll get it posted until tomorrow...and more pics are on Flickr.

Pre-Turkey Day dressing 1

I'm not sure how much dressing I'll get in over the coming weeks, but I'm going to try and do as much as I can.

Today's outfit is my fave Jaclyn Smith black-and-red crepe dress. For the first time, I'm wearing it with my new full slip underneath--you get a peek in one shot below.

Other accessories are the new multi-color paisley scarf, taupe hose, gold jewelry and red t-strap pumps.

More pics on Flickr, more dressing this afternoon.
